Ballycastle Tennis Tournament: A Summer Tradition
Every August, Ballycastle becomes a hub for tennis enthusiasts as the town hosts the annual Junior and Senior Tennis Tournaments. Held at the picturesque Alex McFarland Tennis Courts, this event draws hundreds of players and spectators for nearly two weeks of competitive tennis action.
The tournament kicks off with the juniors, attracting over 160 competitors who play more than 300 matches, followed by the seniors with over 230 participants and an incredible 400+ matches. The event showcases local talent and visiting players from all over, creating an electric atmosphere throughout the town. With matches taking place on both the newly resurfaced hard courts and the classic lawn courts, there’s plenty to watch for tennis lovers of all ages.
When is the Tennis Tournament?
You have to wait for the exact dates to be launched each year. Usually the dates are released in May and details can be found here via the Ballycastle Tennis Club.
The Juniors week is first, followed by the Seniors tournament just after.
